Softball: Homecoming for Dawson as Stone Bridge Grad Brings Undefeated Madison JV Team to Ashburn

(April 26, 2013) - At 25 years of age it wasn't too long ago that Casey Dawson was attending Homecomings but this evening she will have a different type of Homecoming as the Stone Bridge High School Class of 2005 grad returns to Ashburn as the head coach of the undefeated James Madison High School softball team.

Dawson's Warhawks aren't just 9-0 but they have been rolling, averaging more than 18 runs a game! Dawson's father Glenn says there will be plenty of family and friends on hand for tonight's 6:30 p.m. game.

Dawson graduated from West Virginia with a B.A. in physical education in 2010 and earned her Master's in special education from George Mason last year. She is in her first year of coaching and third year teaching at Madison.

College Corner: Potomac Falls Grad Heather Kiefer Named CAA Pitcher of the Week for Second Time this Spring

Richmond (April 20, 2013)  – James Madison sophomore pitcher Heather Kiefer (Potomac Falls, Va./Potomac Falls) and freshman pitcher/first baseman Jailyn Ford (Hot Springs, Va./Bath County) were respectively named the Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week on Monday after helping lead JMU to a 4-1 record last week.

Kiefer claimed CAA Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season and the third time in her career. For Ford, this is her fourth conference Rookie of the Week accolade and her sixth conference honor of the season.

Girls Soccer: Stone Bridge to Hold Signing Ceremony for 6 Seniors Thursday

(Feb. 26, 2013) - The Stone Bridge High School girls soccer team is holding a college signing ceremony for six seniors on Thursday, February 28 at 4 p.m. in the school's library. The Bulldogs will recognize the fall girls who will play next year on the college level:

• Corinne Giroux (The College of William and Mary)
