Golf: Broad Run's Desiree Razon Finishes Tied for 16th at VHSL Girls Open State Tournament

(Oct. 30, 2011) - Broad Run High School sophomore Desiree Razon shot at two-day total of 165 last week at the Kiskiask Golf Club in Williamsburg to finish tied for 16th at the 2011 VHSL Girls Open state golf tournament.

Abby Portyrata of Clover Hill defeated Battlefield's Karishma Thiagaraj on the second playoff hole to secure the state title after both girls shot identical 71-73. Shannon Brooks of James Madison was five shots back at 149 and Chantilly's Juhee Bae shot 150.

Rounding out the medalist were Lauren Eklund (Albemarle) at 151, Lauren Kruszewski (Great Bridge) at 153 and Jessica Merrill (Herndon) and Kushboo Thiagaraj (Battlefield) both at 154.

Stone Bridge's Arianna Israel shot a 175.
