Girls Basketball: Tuscarora's Pickett Becomes First Huskies Hoops Player to Commit to Next Level

(Feb. 25, 2012) - Tuscarora High School girls basketball coach Michael Newkirk reports that senior Darrian Pickett has verbally committed to play next year at NCAA Division II University of Virginia at Wise. Picket becomes the first girls basketball player to commit to the next level since the school opened in 2010-11.

Pickett helped Tuscarora to a 17-9 record this season and a trip to the Region II Division 3 playoffs that ended in a semifinal loss on Thursday at Liberty, last year's Division 4 state champions.
