Girls Soccer: Woodgrove Senior Sarah Hardison Named AA State Player of the Year; Briar Woods' Vierkorn Named Coach of the Year

(June 22, 2013) - Woodgrove High School senior Sarah Hardison got a nice graduation present as she has been named the VHSCA AA girls soccer State Player of the Year after guiding the Wolverines to their second straight VHSL state title earlier this month.

Briar Woods' Ann Vierkorn, who led the Falcons to their first Region II title and a state runner-up finish as well as Dulles District regular-season title, was named the Coach of the Year

Gymnastics: Briar Woods' Sara Connors Takes All Around at A/AA State Qualifier

(Feb. 10, 2013) - Briar Woods' Sara Connors captured the All Around at Saturday's A/AA State Qualifier meet at Woodgrove High School.

Connors scored 36.325 to win. Also qualifying for the VHSL state meet in the All Around were Victoria Miner (35.800) and Hannah Powell (35.675) of Loudoun County and John Champe's Hallie Nichols (34.550).

The top eight in each event also qualified for next week's state meet at Centreville High School.

Gymnastics: Loudoun Athletes Sweep Top 4 All-Around Spots at A/AA State Qualifier

(Feb. 13, 2012) - It is becoming increasingly clear that when you talk about AA gymnastics in Virginia you are talking about Loudoun County as Loudoun athletes swept the top four All Around spots at Friday's A/AA VHSL state qualifier at Heritage High School.

A total of 11 Loudoun gymnasts automatically qualified with five coming from Loudoun County High School which will send three girls in the All Around to the VHSL open state meet on Feb. 18 at Salem High School including senior Jessica Drews (first on Friday with a 36.450), freshman Victoria Miner (3rd) and sophomore Hannah Powell (4th).

Woodgrove's Amanda Huebner prevented a Raider sweep with a runner-up finish in the All Around.

The top four in All Around and top eight in each event qualified automatically for the state meet.

Gymnastics: A/AA State Qualifier Postponed to Friday Due to Weather

(Feb. 8, 2012) - The A/AA state gymnastics qualifier scheduled for Woodgrove High School tonight has been pushed back to Friday at 6 p.m. at Heritage High School due to travel concerns around the state with today's weather moving in.

Gymnastics: Nine AA Athletes Advance to VHSL Open State Meet; Anello 2nd All-Around, Huebner Wins Vault and Drews Wins Floor

Sterling (Feb. 13, 2011) - Loudoun will send nine AA athletes on to the VHSL Open State Meet next Saturday at Deep Run High School after a successful A/AA state qualifier Saturday at Park View High School.

Freedom's Kaylee Annello finished second in the All-Around behind Brentsville's Kelly McKay and will be joined in the All-Around competition at States by Loudoun County's Jessica Drews, who won the floor, and Woodgrove's Amanda Huebner, who won the vault.
