Baseball: Central Loudoun Little League Earns Its First District 16 Title

(July 17, 2012) - The 10/10 Central Loudoun Little League National League All Stars (CLN) captured the league's first championship as a member of District 16 with their decisive 11-1 win in four innings over Dulles National.


CLN competed hard thoughout the tournament, dominating their opponents by outscoring them 59-12 and staying in the winner's bracket through the first 3 games and into the championship. After a hard-fought game and tough loss to Dulles National 6-5 on Friday night, the stage was set for the winner-take-all final game Saturday morning at Byrne's Ridge Park in Aldie.

The Championship saw fireworks in all phases of the game. Joe Alexander (4IP, 1R, 3K) pitched beautifully and faced only one batter over the minimum through three innings thanks to 3 double plays by the defense. Timely hitting also got things rolling for CLN. Led by Dylan Saale (2-2, 2HR, 6RBI), whose 2-run HR and Grand Slam led the team which racked up 11 runs on 7 hits and 5 walks in only 22 plate appearances.

Congratulations to the players: Jonathan Williams (#3), Justin Allen (#10), Hayden Hawes (#33), Dylan Saale (#34), Joe Alexander (#2), Mason Ambuhl (#12), Parker Bednoski (#2), Landon Hawes (#14), Ryan Hoehn (#11), Ryan Murray (#9) and Cameron Kerr (#7) and their Manager: Mike Saale and Coaches: Mark Alexander and Jeff Hawes.

The team now moves on to the Virginia State tournament in Poquoson next week where they will meet Districts 7, 9 & 15 in pool play of the VA State Championship.
