(July 10, 2012) - The Broad Run High School wrestling program held a youth camp in June with close to 50 wrestlers in attendance for the week.
With grapplers from ages 5-18, the Spartans coaching staff, as well as volunteer coaches and counselors, worked through the week to instruct the basics of the sport to those new to it, as well as teaching Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco-Roman styles to the more advanced wrestlers.
Overall, the week was incredibly successful and enjoyable for all. The coaching staff expressed their encouragement over having wrestlers who have never wrestled wanting to try it in the winter, and wanting to come back next year.
As for the favorite part of camp, for the kids; "the games, and the Freestyle and Greco was cool too."
he Spartans look to make this a yearly summer camp and look forward to expanding its numbers next season.
