Girls Basketball: Kayla Tibbs and Debbie Reilly Earn Heritage Player of the Week Honors

Leesburg (Jan. 19, 2011) - Heritage High School girls basketball has named Kayla Tibbs and Debbie Reilly as Players of the Week for January 3-7.

Offensive Player of the Week: Kayla Tibbs
Tibbs, a freshman guard, was named player of the week for her very efficient offensive production. For the week she scored 31 points (10 per game) while shooting 15 of 34 from the field (44 percent), and also accumulated 6 assists. On the season, Tibbs is averaging 7 points per contest while shooting 40 percent from the field.

Defensive Player of the Week: Debbie Reilly
Senior forward Debbie Reilly played very solid defense for the week with 12 defensive rebounds, 5 deflections, and 4 steals. Reilly’s performance against Cedar Run powerhouse Stonewall Jackson is what put her over the top defensively as she limited Lady Raider center Joy Caracciolo to 25 points. Caracciolo is averaging 21 points a game, but those numbers are coming primarily against prep schools throughout the state, not public schools like Heritage; therefore, Reilly’s feat was impressive.
