(Mar. 29, 2010) - The Stone Bridge High School baseball team swept a pair of games in the "Let's Play Two" tournament in Prince William on Saturday, including a 5-inning perfect game by sophomore Tyler Mocabee.
Mocabee struck out 12 of the 15 batters he faced as the Bulldogs pounded Cardozo, 16-0, in a game at Woodbridge High School. The Stone Bridge batters pounded out 15 hits in four innings, with Spenser Rositano, Spencer Brookbank, Danny Bour, and Sid Harvey all contributing with two RBI’s.
In the afternoon game, the team moved to Osbourn Park High School in Manassas to play Stonewall Jackson. The Raiders proved to be a greater challenge than the earlier contest, but Bulldog pitcher Brookbank stepped up at the plate and on the mound. Brookbank gave up just one run on four hits with six strikeouts in six innings while going 2-for-3 with a single, double, two runs score and an RBI.
The game was 1-0 through four innings before the Bulldogs broke the game open in the fifth inning, scoring three runs and adding to the total with three in the sixth and two in the seventh for a 9-1 victory.
Sophomore Josh Kuzbel contributed with two hits, along with junior Conor Donovan, who continued to stay hot with two hits and an RBI. Six other Bulldogs contributed with hits on the night. Junior Mac West came in the seventh inning to close out the game for Stone Bridge, allowing no hits and striking out one.
The Bulldogs advance to the Championship bracket with a semi final game scheduled for Monday, March 29th at 3 p.m. against host Osbourn Park High School, weather permitting.
