News: "Stuff a Backpack" School Supply Drive Launched for 2010 Redskins Training Camp

(July 28, 2010) - The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation in partnership with World Vision – National Capital Area will launch a “Stuff a Backpack” School Supply Drive from Thursday, July 29th, through Saturday, August 7th.

It is seeking donations of new school supplies to help families in need get their children ready to start the school year.

To participate, fans are encouraged to review the list of suggested school supplies and come to Redskins Park on the Training Camp open practice days between July 29th and August 7th to donate their items. Fans unable to come to the Park also can participate by dropping off new supplies at any of the 10 metro area Redskins Retail Stores. A collection box will be visible and clearly marked “Redskins and World Vision” inside the stores for your convenience.

This school supply drive will collect new school supplies that will be “stuffed” in backpacks and distributed throughout the Washington Redskins market to children that could otherwise not afford to purchase new school supplies.

The school supplies being collected are:
· Pencils (wooden No. 2 unsharpened)
· Pens (medium point blue or black)
· Pencil sharpeners (double-barrel with canister)
· Erasers (large pink, beveled)
· Rulers (12-inch plastic with inches and centimeters)
· Glue Sticks (0.28 ounce, dries clear)
· Filler Paper (100 sheets, wide-ruled)
· Pencil Cases (10 inch-by-5-inch, zipper, with three-hole grommets)
· Folders (two-pocket, assorted colors)
· Colored Pencils (12-count package)
· Highlighters (yellow, chisel tip)
· Spiral Notebooks (one-subject, wide-ruled)
· Crayons (24-count box)
· Binders (three-ring, one to two inches)

If fans are unable to attend one of the Training Camp days or wish to make a secure monetary donation, cash or checks will be accepted both at Training Camp or fans can go online to www.worldvision.org/StuffaBackpack beginning Friday, July 30th.

Donations also may be sent to World Vision c/o “Stuff a Backpack” School Supply Drive, P.O. Box 70384, Tacoma, WA 98481. All funds collected will be used by the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and World Vision – National Capital Area to purchase new school supplies for elementary and middle school students at targeted Title I schools in the greater Washington, D.C., metropolitan region.
