(Aug. 30, 2011) - Of all the surprises in the opening week of the high school football season, none is bigger perhaps than the unexpected move of Stone Bridge High School possible two-way starter junior Warren Miles to Tuscarora where he scored a key touchdown Friday in the Huskies season-opening, 27-10, win over Millbrook.
When football practices started in early August, Miles was practicing with Stone Bridge and expected to challenge for a starting running back spot and also listed by Bulldog coach Mickey Thompson as a key returner to the secondary where he was a second team All-Liberty District DB in 2010.
Miles, while on early Stone Bridge rosters released this season, is not on an updated roster for the season-opener Thursday at Robinson. Stone Bridge assistant AD Brian Parke confirmed Wednesday that Miles was not with the Stone Bridge program any more.
Tuscarora Athletic Director Derek Farrey confirmed Wednesday that Miles, while not listed on the Huskies football roster on the school's athletic website, was enrolled at Tuscarora and had first started practicing with the Huskies football team on Monday Aug. 22.
Stone Bridge is ranked No. 2 in the preseason by the Washington Post but is looking to replace Marcus Harris, who graduated at RB last season.
