Softball: Broad Run's Maggie Betz to Play at NCAA Division I Hartford

Asbhurn (Oct. 19, 2010) - Broad Run High School senior Maggie Betz has made a verbal commitment to play softball at NCAA Division I the University of Hartford in Connecticut.

The Hawks play in the America East Conference.

Betz plays third base for the Spartans where she was named first team All Dulles District in 2010 as well as first team Region II and honorable mention AA all-state.

She was a member of the 2008 and 2009 Broad Run AA state championship teams. During the 2009 season, she shared the field with her sister, Broad Run pitcher, Judy Betz (Wagner College, sophomore). During the 11-inning 2009 state championship game, Betz scored from first base when teammate Jenn Soroka (Gettysburg College) hit the game-winning double.

Betz is a member of the National Honor Society and the Key Club at Broad Run. She plans to pursue business and communication studies at the University of Hartford.
