College Corner: Former BR Softball Star Haley Johnson Makes CAA All-Rookie Team at JMU

(May 17, 2010) - Former Broad Run High School softball star Haley Johnson, who helped the Spartans to three straight AA state titles, has been named to the CAA All-Rookie team after her freshman year at James Madison University.

Johnson caught for the Spartans during their incredible run but played third base this season for the Dukes where she started 50 of 54 games. Johnson's put some impressive numbers: She hit .300 on the season with a .392 slugging percentage and .368 on-base average. She had 39 hits, including two home runs, with 25 RBIs and led the team in sacrifice flies with five and was tied for the team lead in sacrifice bunts with five. She hit even better in conference with a .351 average, .456 slugging percentage and .381 on-base percentage.
