South Riding (May 17, 2012) - Freedom High School senior Alexis Mayo, who helped the Eagles win back-to-back girls basketball state titles, has committed to play next year at NCAA Division II Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania.
A 4-year starter for Freedom, Mayo was a member of the 2009 Division 3 and 2010 Division 4 state championship teams. She exits South Riding as the school's all-time steals leader with 284 total.
Last year as a senior she led the team in scoring with 12 points a game, in assists with five a game, steals with five a game. She was also tied for leading rebounding and led the team in blocks. Mayo had 11 steals in one game and finished the 2011-12 season with 126 steals.
