| Marty Newsom |
Newsom, a former gymnast at the University of Wisconsin who went on to coach and judge the sport, co-founded APEX in 1997. Newsom was a standout at Herndon High School after moving to Northern Virginia from England his sophomore year. While in England he was top five in the country in his age group.
A memorial account is being set up for Apex scholarships so his family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to "APEX scholarship" in honor of "Marty Newsom". There will be a celebration of life for Marty on Sunday, June 10 from noon to 4 p.m. at Ida Lee Park in Leesburg (60 Ida Lee Drive Northwest Leesburg, Virginia 20176) near the gazebo. Please bring your own chairs or blankets. Please feel free to bring pictures if you like. There will be a pot-luck so please feel free to bring a covered dish or dessert to share and also bring your own beverages. Paper products will be provided.

Our children's lives were touched by Marty in so many positive ways. We will miss him!
