Gymnastics: Loudoun County Ties Loudoun Valley for Second in Meet at Stonewall

Manassas (Dec. 7, 2010) - The Loudoun County High School gymnastics team opened the season Monday at a meet at Stonewall Jackson with the Raiders, the only AA size school competing, tying Loudoun Valley for second.

Battlefield won the meet with Heritage fourth.

The Raiders had 4 girls qualify for regionals last night. County was led by junior Jessica Drews who finished 3rd on bars, 3rd on floor and 4th all around. Drews met the standards to qualify for Regional competition last night.

Freshman Hannah Powell was 6th on floor and also qualified for regionals in the all around.

Freshman Anne Asai put in a solid performance on floor to meet the qualifying standard for regionals.

Sophomore Leigh Philbrick qualified on vault for regionals.

Bright spots for Heritage were Leslie Lloyd on vault scoring an 8.8 personal best. Brittan Dyer and Kara Smith scoring personal bests in the all around.
