Baseball: Dominion's Ryan Doyle to Play at Danville Community College

(July 18, 2011) - Dominion High School recent graduate Ryan Doyle will play baseball at the next level as he has signed a letter of intent to play at Danville Community College.

Doyle's signing brings the Class of 2011 up to 144 athletes headed to the college ranks. The Class of 2010 topped out at 159 signed -- give VivaLoudoun a shout out if we have missed your favorite athlete's college decision.

Dominion coach Rob Sikora gave a nod to the Virginia-based baseball recruiting service, TCWPreps, for getting Doyle placed with Danville: "As a Head Coach it's sometimes difficult to find time to expose your players to college scouts, TCWPreps was able to notify me of an opportunity for one of my players (Ryan Doyle), and now he's signed to play at the next level."

John Bailey, Danville's head baseball coach, found out about Doyle via TCWPreps and had the pitcher come to Danville for a campus tour that included a look at Danville's educational facilities as well as baseball. Soon after Doyle committed to playing for Danville.

Danville plays the Danville Braves minor league park, American Legion Post 325 Field, which is nestled along the Dan River in spacious Dan Daniel Memorial Park. Considered among the prettiest scenery you will find in all of Minor League Baseball, the park has 2,588 seats.
