News: Liberty District/Northern Region Make-up Plans for Winter Sports

Ashburn (Feb. 9, 2010) - Stone Bridge High School, which plays in the AAA Liberty District and Northern Region, has released make-up information for winter sports in the wake of the extended storm postponements.

Gymnastics: Concord has not completed district gournament. Concord Gymnasts will be placed into the Regional Tournament based on previous scores (Herndon and Chantilly advancing). Regional Tournament will be either Feb. 17 or 18 depending on first day of Patriot District basketball tournament (Lake Braddock Gym availability). Competitors will need to be dismissed from school at noon to arrive at LB for a 1 p.m. warm-up

Basketball: District tournaments would start Feb. 17 and 18 and complete no later then the Feb. 22. Liberty District first round on Feb. 17 at high seed, semis Feb. 18 (Boys st South Lakes, Girls at Madison), finals Feb. 20 at South Lakes. Region Tournament would move, starting on Feb. 24, second round at top seed on Feb. 25, Semi's at Robinson on Feb. 27 and Finals March 1 at Robinson. The varsity regular season would be complete at this time. Girls/Boys Fr/JV double headers Feb. 19 with Langley at Stone Bridge. Game times 5:45 and 7:30.

Seeding: The Liberty District will use only the first round of the season to seed the teams. The Bulldog boys were 5-2 and will be the third seed playing McLean. The Bulldog girls were 4-3 and will be the third seed playing Fairfax. Stone Bridge will host a doubleheader first round on Feb. 17 - Girls at 5:45 p.m. and Boys 7:30 p.m. (we will honor seniors from all teams). Semis Feb. 18 boys at South Lakes, Girls at Madison, 5:45/7:30. Finals Feb. 20 at South Lakes Girls 5:45 and Boys 7:30.

Wrestling: District Tournaments will not take place. A 32-team regional tournament (all teams advancing) will take place Feb. 16 and 17 - Starting at 9:30 a.m. with a 7:30 a.m. weighin - First Round Single elimination. On Feb. 17 - Start time 5:30 p.m. with a 3:30 p.m. weighin At Fairfax High School, Six mats.

Swim: Regional Girls Dive will be on Fri. Feb. 12, 9 a.m. warm up/10:30 start at Audrey Moore Recreation Center. Regional Boys Swim will be at Oak Marr Rec Center, Fri. Feb. 12, 4 p.m. warm-up/5:30 start.

Regional Forensics: Will be scheduled for Feb. 17 at Westfield

Regional One Act Play: Rescheduling to be determined (region deadline Feb. 27 - state tournament March 20)
